Overview

MCL requires a Commercial Manager for our clients PMC Project.

 

Duration: an initial 12+ month contract role

 

Rate: a target limited company rate of circa £60.00 per hour.

Location: The role will be based on 5 days a week in the Clients Offices in Leatherhead. Hybrid working may be possible with two days remote.

The role is likely to be outside IR35 but the final decision will be made after a Qdos assessment.

  • 15 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Cognisance of all relevant corporate and project procedures
  • A sound knowledge of different contracting strategies, the pros, and cons of different approaches
  • Experience managing project commercial issues in the oil and gas, petrochemical and renewable energy and energy transition contracting environments

Job Description

  • Pre-contract duties (where assigned to a project on a full-time basis)
  • Ensure that subcontractors are engaged via appropriate contractual arrangements with back-to-back provisions where appropriate and the necessary insurances are in place.
  • Ensure inclusion of key client obligations and deliverables (particularly review and approval periods and acceptance), consistency throughout the contract terms and conditions and all exhibits.
  • Post-contract duties
  • Ensure the project operates in accordance with clients commercial policies and procedures
  • Ensure understanding of contractual requirements with regard to schedule obligations, e.g. guaranteed date(s), interim milestones and progress measurement.
  • Leads commercial activities during the project life cycle, including but not limited to:
  • Change Management
  • Claims Management
  • Early Warnings
  • Notices
  • Monitoring any “schedule sensitive” provisions
  • Records
  • Correspondence
  • Cash collection
  • Commercial close out
  • Assist the Subcontracts and Procurement functions with the development of the Project Subcontracts and Procurement Management Plans required during pre-contract negotiations and post-contract administration.
  • Ensures that any necessary contractual notices are served in accordance with the terms of the contract, including client approvals, reporting requirements, preparation and submission of variation and contract amendment requests.
  • Ensure that project KPI scheme(s), any as necessary, are administered in accordance with the terms of the contract.


Qualifications

Degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Law, Finance, Management, or Quantity Surveying (Technology or equivalent) along with appropriate professional qualification (preferred)
