Overview

MCL requires a Lead Piping Engineer for our Aberdeen based client. 

 

Duration: 12 months +

 

Location: Clients offices in Aberdeen (City Centre) - hybrid working is acceptable with 3 days per week in the office / 2 days remote working

 

Rate: Circa £60.00 per hour (Ltd co rate)

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting piping stress analysis on Caesar II.
  • Piping stress analysis on Underground & Aboveground Pipelines.
  • Static equipment nozzle loading evaluation.
  • Piping stress analysis against ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4 and CSA Z662.
  • Responsible for piping material purchase for the technical and engineering quality portions of documents (MRs, TBEs).
  • Piping Analysis on major stream pipeline stress including high pressure stream lines, produced emulsion lines, produced gas or vapor lines, natural gas lines.
  • Responsible for producing Plant Plot Plan and Overall Plot Plans (Piping portion).
  • Technical direction to the piping stress team members as be required.
  • Comply with Company and Clients Standards for Piping Engineering.
  • Evaluation of mechanical equipment documents such as MRs and vendor documents for piping material and components.
  • Field engineering review at Construction Site as support for construction when required.
  • Provide support and input on multidiscipline documents such as LDTs, P & IDs, etc.
  • Generating MSDs based on process conditions.
  • Responsible for piping technical design and basic piping information such as pipe wall thickness, hydro-test procedures, pressure and temperature conditions, winterization conditions, etc.
  • Provide input to piping value engineering into designs.
  • Identified stress related potential problems on pipelines and process piping.
  • Pipe support selection and design.

We are looking for applicants who have a Lead style / autonomous capability with previous Oil and Gas experience onshore and offshore, drilling and topsides engineering preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree on Mechanical/Piping Engineering or similar.
  • 8+ years of Engineering experience. Field experience is an asset.
  • Industry experience on Oil & Gas (SAGD). Other experience such as Mining, Pipelines, Gas treatment, Gas compression package, Refinery, Upgrader is also acceptable.
  • Professional Engineer (APEGA PEng). Able to Authenticate Piping documents and drawings.
  • Piping Stress Analysis, Piping, and piping components material selection.
  • Experience on detailed designs for piping systems.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking to solving problems and technical issues.
  • Good communication skills both in written and verbal.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and work independently with minimal supervision.
